Tygart kept up the heat, saying: “WADA is just a sport lapdog and clean athletes have little chance.”

Tygart was not mollified, saying: “China seemingly has the playbook to compete under a different set of rules tilting the field in their favor.”

But Usada chief executive Travis Tygart said Wada and Chinada had "swept these positives under the carpet".

It then turned its attention to Tygart, saying his comments were politically motivated and that it “is astonished by the outrageous, completely false and defamatory remarks” he made.

Tygart came back with another statement, noting the difference between USADA’s handling of contamination cases and this one.
