West Fargo Public Schools shows a “significantly longer” video that already was part of the curriculum, the district told the AP in an email, adding that it “covers other information about pregnancy that helps teach additional health standards.”

Republican Sen. Judy Lee, of West Fargo, said in opposition to the bill that she received an email a few weeks ago from a couple with two 10-year-old foster daughters who were victims of incest.

The measure is intended to discourage schools from “promoting transgenderism,” Republican sponsor Sen. David Clemens, of West Fargo, said this week.

“We don’t have to wait around for the issue to happen. We have to send the message now that this is unacceptable,” Rep. Austen Schauer, of West Fargo, said before voting in favor of the bill.

“It’s not a crime to hurt feelings, though,” a man commented on the West Fargo Police Department’s Facebook page.
