"However, if current trends continue, advisories could be initiated on the system later today or tonight as it moves westward to west-southwestward to the northeast of Bermuda," NHC wrote, giving the area an 90% chance of formation a period of 48 hours and five days.

The NHC said the depression is forecast to move slowly west-southwestward and then meander over the south Bay of Campeche through Thursday.

“Environmental conditions are conducive for a tropical depression to form during the next day or so while the low moves slowly westward or west-southwestward towards Mexico,” NHC added.
