The dense forest consists of pi�on pine, juniper, Douglas fir, and western yellow pine.

The important lumber trees of the Rocky Mountain forest are the western yellow pine, the lodgepole pine, the Douglas fir and the Engelmann spruce.

Approaching the park from the east the routes pass through open western yellow pine forests and western larch stands.

Last of the ranking trio is the western yellow pine, a warrior clad in plates of russet armor.

Although our supplies of Douglas fir, western white pine, sugar pine and western yellow pine are still large, they will have to bear an extra burden when all the southern pine is gone.
