She became part of the largest in-take of female MPs in parliamentary history, famously dubbed by the tabloid press as "Blair's babes".

When Prime Minister Tony Blair’s landslide victory in 1997 put a record 101 female Labour lawmakers into Parliament, the women were mockingly called “ Blair’s Babes.”

She remembers a Labour MP elected in 1997 - among the intake that was labelled Blair's babes by sections of the media - approaching her to complain about the behaviour of male colleagues.

When she entered the House of Commons, it was as one of "Blair's Babes" - the record-breaking 101-strong intake of female Labour MPs in 1997.

Caroline Lucas, the Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, accused the Mail of "sinking to an all-time low", and the Labour MP Anne McGuire said it made the "Blair's Babes headline look positively PC".
